Two small birds I'm stuck on
Two small birds I'm stuck on
One I think is some type of flycatcher but can't figure out which. The other I don't have a guess on. If anybody has any ideas I'd be very appreciative. Thanks!

Second I'm thinking Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

I can get male House Sparrow's no problem. The females keep throwing me for a loop. Thanks

This is correct. Note the bulbous bill on the House Sparrow and the lack of a hooked bill on the kinglet. And kinglets exhibit much different behavior than flycatchers - kinglets are busy in the canopies of trees and flick their wings as they forage while flycatchers sit relatively still on a branch, sally out to catch an insect, then fly right back to a branch.Greyhawk wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 4:51 amFirst is a House Sparrow,MtnAg08 wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 4:33 am One I think is some type of flycatcher but can't figure out which. And the kinglet's wingbars and front-and-back eye crescents are visible in the first photo. The Bird Nuts wrote: Thu May 14, 2026 7:39 pm ... and the lack of a hooked bill on the kinglet.
