I suspect the 728 guests online is related.

I took away Guests ability to download files and use the search function. I am hopeful that this will limit their load on the system.

I am currently allowing Guests no access at all, just as an experiment. I probably won't keep it that way.

Thanks. I assume the vast majority of those are also bots of some sort?

I have restored read-only access to Guests and am still not seeing errors anymore, so I guess prohibiting them from downloading files and using the search function is sufficient.

The major search engine bots self-label, so the Guests are likely AI tool bots gathering data for their own purposes. Nothing malicious, but in great numbers an unwelcome strain on resources.

Trouble logging in and posting this morning. Keep getting a message about the site verifying my posts, which doesn't verify my posts. Not sure how to express my problem if this post doesn't get verified.

I finally got my post/photos to load in the Weekly Species thread after way too many attempts. The message read something along the lines of, 'Please wait while we verify your request', or something similar.

Haven't seen hardly any errors the last several weeks.

You need to present two forms of photo identification. We'll also need to draw a fasting blood sample and here, fill this plastic cup to the line.

We'll take any financial information you choose to provide but, to be clear, send all bodily fluid samples directly to Charlie.

The wording of the message, which appears like a blank page with the words towards the top, reads, "Please wait while your request is verified." It only shows for a second before either sending me back to a blank message box or loading the post. I am even seeing that message when I am just browsing the forum and clicking on new/different threads. It comes and goes too quick to get a screen capture before being redirected to the next/previous screen.

So you don't have a problem posting from your phone? Have you tried a different browser on your computer? Or maybe clear your cache?

I have no problem posting from my phone, I am just limited because my phone doesn't have the same options that the computer has. I tried to explain yesterday in my many failed attempts that the same thing is happening in both Safari and Chrome. Rebooting did nothing and clearing the cache left me unable to log back on. Now I am getting the message and then being redirected back to the login page, over and over again. Guess I'll just keep trying to log on until it eventually works.

Posted on the first attempt with no message about verifying my request. No idea what happened, but it's not happening at the moment so I'll call that a win without explanation. *shrug*

I suspect you have a bad bookmark / favorite / shortcut. Maybe delete any existing ones and replace them with the link that worked successfully.

Not that I'm interested in anything you have to post, you understand.
