What Bird Is That Forum

I'm wondering if this Bufflehead is a female or immature male. Can it be distinguished? Seen 2 days ago in north Alabama when there was a beautiful sunrise glow on the water. Thanks

I raised the shadows & exposure some to see if helpful to anybody.

I would say 1st winter male but happy to be corrected.
