I think you may be confusing them with Wood-Pewees.
Oh my goodness, you're right! I must have been tired when I posted LOL! I have no Eastern Phoebes.

Saw this bird in the parking lot of a car dealership next to where we stopped to eat when traveling from Denver to Rocky Mt NP last year.

I've seen these, and had to learn to distinguish them from the Tropicals, but I don't think I have any photos!

Good morning, Whatbirders! The random number generator spit out an East Coast species this morning, so I'm pairing with a western one!

Laughing Gull

California Gull

The guideline is only one photo per species per week, please. On those occasions when I name more than one species, you're welcome to post one photo of each species. Details and stories behind the photos are encouraged!

I have a bunch of these, so it was hard to choose; I decided to go for drama and artistic effect. Laughing Gulls taking their perch on the light poles for the night.

Horry County SC. Oct 2023. eBird checklist S151179246

From the autumn 2023 meeting of the Carolina Bird Club. I picked up a couple of lifer shorbs on this trip. The mosquitos were ... challenging.

Good March morning, Whatbirders! The randomly selected bird this week is a western species, so let's throw in another blackbird from the southeastern coast too.

Bullock's Oriole

Boat-tailed Grackle

A rare out of range Bullocks Oriole from Nov 2023. I remember thinking that it was an unusual sighting at the time, and I needed the help of this crowd to help me nail down the ID.

I got to see the rarely-present Bullock's in Panajachel during the Christmas Bird Count in January 2025, but I didn't get a photo. And our grackles have great tails (except in September, when they have no tails!)
