@grayhawk, I keep randomly getting errors and pages not loading....

I suspect the 728 guests online is related.

I saw 3000 earlier today. The resource limit being reached may be simultaneous processes.

I took away Guests ability to download files and use the search function. I am hopeful that this will limit their load on the system.

I am currently allowing Guests no access at all, just as an experiment. I probably won't keep it that way.

Thanks. I assume the vast majority of those are also bots of some sort?

I have restored read-only access to Guests and am still not seeing errors anymore, so I guess prohibiting them from downloading files and using the search function is sufficient.

The major search engine bots self-label, so the Guests are likely AI tool bots gathering data for their own purposes. Nothing malicious, but in great numbers an unwelcome strain on resources.
