I'm very new to birding and having two birds I saw this week I am trying to pin down. These were found in Avon, Colorado.
The first I am almost certain is a Townsend's Solitaire but he was perched at a weird angle so I don't have a good shot of his wings to confirm for sure.
The second is a fling of sandpipers but I'm having trouble narrowing down what type. Based on pictures I'm thinking they're white-rumped sandpipers but an AI Identifier (which I don't trust at all) says they're Red Knots in their non-breeding plumage which seems highly unlikely. I've looked at multiple pictures online of both but just don't feel confident in either.
Any help for a newbie would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
