Help with some ID's

Need help identifying a bird? Please post your question here and if possible include a photo. Also let us know where and when you saw the bird. Other things that help are listing any field marks that stood out, behavioral information like how it walked, hopped or flew. This Forum is just for North American birds.

Help with some ID's

Post by Sbruenjes »

I saw these birds today at the South Mountain Reservation in Essex County, NJ. I'm thinking blue headed and maybe yellow throated vireo, but I'm not certain. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Note the orange feet on the warbler. Vireos have blue feet.

And still can't see it myself...

You can't see that bird has yellow feet or you can't see that vireos have blueish grey ones?

That vireos have bluish ones. They most often look black or dark gray to me. Less than one in ten appear to have a bluish sheen to me. Photos or field, no difference.

It's not like that's the only field mark. I just rely on others.
