Gulls flying over Colorado
Gulls flying over Colorado
This was a first. I was walking around the park when I noticed a large flock of something coming down. They got low enough to realize it was gulls. They circled over the little man-made lake for about 2 minutes then flew back up out of sight. Being landlocked I've never seen gulls come through before. I'm guessing they're Herring or Ring-Billed. Don't know if any of the photos are good enough to be sure.

Re: Gulls flying over Colorado
I see Gulls (pun sort of intended) as being a major pain for IDing. Haven't had to do any yet as this is a brand new hobby and being in the mountains of Colorado not something I've seen yet. I'm going to San Diego in August and have been looking into doing a whale/bird tour. Now I'm kind of dreading the nightmare of figuring out what I'm seeing out there.....

It's just unforgivable!!!
It definitely not true that less than a few hours ago I miss identified two Pectoral Sandpipers as Leasts. Definitely not.
